Thiruvananthapuram: The Kerala police on Tuesday arrested all the seven accused persons in the Venjaramoodu twin murder case, including the three main accused.
The three main accused - Ansar, Unni, and a woman who were absconding, were nabbed by the police today.
According to the police, many of the persons directly involved in the murder conspiracy are Congress workers and have links to the party in some manner.
Prime accused Unni, is the local leader of INTUC (Indian National Trade Union Congress).
Meanwhile, the woman who is suspected of having aided another accused Sajeev in the case is currently being interrogated. Her role in the case would be known only after the interrogation is complete, the police said.
The police have also recorded the arrests of Shajith, Sathi, Ajith and Najeeb who had allegedly conspired for the murder and had aided the main accused in the twin murder case. According to reports, all the four are Congress workers.
According to prima facie inference of the police, the motive for the twin murder is political enmity which was sparked at the time of Loksabha elections in 2019. B Ashokan, Thiruvananthapuram Rural Superintendent of Police informed that a special police investigation team has been formed under the leadership of Suresh, Attingal Deputy Superintendent of Police to probe the conspiracy behind the murder.

Haq Mohammed and Mithilaj, both youth wing activists of the CPI-M, were killed after sustaining deep stab wounds on their chests, as per the primary finding in their autopsy reports.
The incident occurred close to midnight when the two deceased, who was travelling on a bike, were stopped and attacked by five persons who came on two bikes. While Mithilaj died on the spot, Mohammed died in the hospital.
