1,326 new COVID-19 cases in Gujarat, death count rises by 15

Ahmedabad: With the addition of 1,326 coronavirus positive cases, Gujarat's overall tally went up to 1,13,662, the state health department said.

With 15 deaths, the fatality count reached 3,213, it said.

A total of 1,205 patients were discharged from hospitals during the day, taking the number of recovered cases in the state to 94,010, the department said in its release.

Maharashtra COVID-19 tally rises to 10,60,308 after 22,543 fresh cases

Mumbai: Maharashtra's COVID-19 tally today rose to 10,60,308 after 22,543 fresh cases, a health official said.

The state death toll rose to 29,531 with 416 deaths reported in the last 24 hours, the official said.

So far, 740061 persons have been discharged, while there are 2,90,344 cases in the state, he said. The number of tests so far is 52,53,676, he added.

J-K records over 1K COVID-19 cases for 11th day

Srinagar: Jammu and Kashmir today recorded 1,686 fresh cases of COVID-19, while fourteen patients died in the last 24 hours, officials said.

The total number of cases has now reached 54,096 and the death toll mounted to 878, they said.

It was for the eleventh time in as many days that the number of fresh cases has crossed 1,000 in 24 hours.

Meghalaya reports one more COVID death, 109 fresh cases

Shillong: The COVID-19 death toll in Meghalaya rose to 26 with one more person succumbing to the disease today, while 109 fresh cases of infection took the state's tally to 3,724, a health department official said.

The number of active cases in the state is now 1,623.

Kerala adds 3,139 fresh cases, 15 deaths push toll to 439

Thiruvananthapuram: Kerala reported 3,139 new COVID-19 cases today taking the overall tally to 1,08,278 while 15 deaths pushed the toll to 439.

As many as 1,855 recoveries were recorded today, while 30,072 people are presently undergoing treatment for the infection that has so far claimed 439 lives.

Tripura reports 12 COVID-19 fatalities, 629 new cases

Agartala: Tripura reported record single-day spike of 12 COVID-19 fatalities, which raised the death toll to 194, while 629 fresh cases pushed the tally in the state to 18,932, a senior official said.

Tripura, at present, has 7,584 active coronavirus cases, while 11,132 people have recovered from the disease.

COVID vaccine likely by early 2021, will be given to elderly, frontline workers first: Harsh Vardhan

The coronavirus vaccine might be ready by the first quarter of 2021, Union health and family welfare minister Harsh Vardhan said on Sunday.

"While no date has been fixed for the vaccine launch, it may be ready by the first quarter of 2021," he said.

Harsh Vardhan also said that the government is considering emergency authorisation of COVID-19 vaccination to senior citizens and people working in high-risk settings. "This shall be done after a consensus has been reached," he added.

Delhi records 4,235 cases; over 4,000 infections reported for 5th straight day

New Delhi: Delhi recorded 4,235 coronavirus cases today, taking the tally to over 2.18 lakh, while the death toll mounted to 4,744 with 29 new fatalities, authorities said.

This is the fifth successive day when over 4,000 coronavirus cases were recorded in the national capital.

According to a Delhi government health bulletin issued this evening, 29 fresh fatalities were recorded in the past 24 hours.

5 students test positive in Uttarakhand's Doon Medical College

Dehradun: As the coronavirus continues to creep across the country, as many as five medical students of Doon Medical College tested positive in Uttarakhand.

Total 45 students had undergone COVID testing, out of which five have been tested positive, said an official of the college.

Lucknow: Eighty more people died from coronavirus in Uttar Pradesh today as 6,239 fresh cases surfaced, taking the infection figures to 3,12,036 in the state.

The count of active COVID-19 cases in the state stands at 68,122 whereas

as many as 2,39,485 patients have recovered from the disease so far.

Mizoram's lone BJP MLA tests positive for COVID-19

Aizawl: Mizoram's lone BJP legislator Budhha Dhan Chakma has tested positive for COVID-19, official sources said.

He was among the 35 people who were diagnosed with coronavirus infection in the last 24 hours, they said.

Chakma, 47, is the only legislator in Mizoram to have tested positive for COVID-19.

Reserve 80 pc ICU beds for COVID patients: Delhi govt 

New Delhi: Due to a surge in coronavirus cases, the Delhi government today directed all nursing homes and private hospitals having bed strength of 50 beds or more to reserve at least 80 per cent of their total ICU bed strength for the treatment of COVID-19 patients with immediate effect.

MoH issues new guidelines for post-COVID care

The Ministry of Health and Family Welfare stressed on ayurvedic intervention to manage post-COVID conditions in its latest guidelines issued today for recovered patients, including use of chyawanprash and AYUSH medicines.

In the guidelines, the Ministry recommended the use of immunity-boosting medicines like Ayush Kwath and Samshamani Vati on a daily basis, for effective recovery from post-COVID health conditions.

Virus spreading in rural Maharashtra: CM

Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray said that the pandemic is showing no sign of a respite and the virus is spreading in rural Maharashtra as well. "But the number of patients recovering is also more. Facts and figures show that if detected early, all patients recover fast," he said. 

Asking people not to take the pandemic lightly, he said wearing masks, observing physical distancing, avoiding crowding and face-to-face contact with people is the only option as of now.

BJP MP Sukanta Majumdar said today that he has tested positive for COVID-19 ahead of the Monsoon session of Parliament.

Majumdar, who represents the Balurghat Lok Sabha seat in West Bengal, is in Delhi where he went through a test for COVID-19 and was found to be positive, party sources said.

COVID-19 claims lives of seven more people in Rajasthan

 Rajasthan recorded seven deaths and 731 fresh cases of COVID-19 on Sunday, according to a health department bulletin.

While the number of positive cases in the state has increased to1,01436, the total number of fatalities climbed to 1,228.

Bikaner reported two fresh deaths, Dungarpur (1), Jaipur (2), Jhalawar (1) and Udaipur (1).

Of the fresh cases, Ajmer reported 50, Alwar (45), Banswara (15), Baran (6), Barmer (14), Bharatpur (4), Bhilwara (16),Bikaner (21), Bundi (11), Chittorgarh (7),

Churu (21), Dausa (15), Dholpur (15), Dungarpur (18), Ganganagar (22), Hanumagarh (9), Jaipur (101), Jalore (7), Jhunjhunu (17), Jodhpur (105), Karauli (13),

Kota (61), Nagaur (28), Pali (29), Pratapgarh (9), Rajsamand (29), Sawaimadhopur (3),Sirohi (9), Tonk (3) and Udaipur (28).

The number of active cases in the state is 17286.

Odisha's COVID-19 tally crosses 1.5-lakh mark, death toll mounts to 626

The COVID-19 tally in Odisha rose to 1,50,807 with 3,913 more people testing positive for the disease on Sunday, while 10 fresh fatalities pushed the state's death toll to 626, a health department official said.

The new cases were reported from all the 30 districts of the state, he said.

Of the fresh cases, 2,348 were reported from various quarantine centres, and 1,565 were detected during contact tracing, the official said.

 11 deaths, 2,216 new COVID-19 cases in Telangana

Telangana reported 2,216 new COVID-19 cases, pushing the infection count to 1,57,096, while 11 fatalities took the toll to 961 on Sunday, the state

government said.

The active cases under treatment stood at 31,607 after cumulative recoveries of 1,24,528, a bulletin providing data as of 8 PM on September 12, said.

Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) accounted for the highest number of cases with 341, followed by Rangareddy (210), Medchal Malkajgiri (148), Nalgonda (126),

Karimnagar (119), Khammam (105) and Warangal Urban (102) districts.

All 33 districts reported cases in double digits.

As many as 56,217 samples were tested on September 12, taking the total number of specimens examined so far to

21,34,912. 

The samples tested per million population was 57,504, it said.

The case fatality rate was 0.61 per cent against 1.65 per cent at the national level. The recovery rate was 79.2 per cent, against the national average of 77.84 per cent.

A total of 24,674 people are in home or institutional isolation, the bulletin said.

COVID-19 tally in India breaches 47-lakh mark

India's COVID-19 tally of cases sprinted past47 lakhwith94,372 new infections being reported in a day, while37,02,595people have recuperated taking the national recovery rate to 77.88 per cent on Sunday, according to the Union Health Ministry data.

The total coronavirus cases mounted to 47,54,356, while the death toll climbed to 78,586 with 1,114 people succumbing to the infection in a span of 24 hours, the data updated at 8 am showed.

The COVID-19 case-fatality rate due to the coronavirus infection has further dropped to 1.65 per cent.

There are 9,73,175 active cases of COVID-19 in the country which comprises 20.47 per cent of the total caseload, the data stated.

India's COVID-19 tally had crossed the 20-lakh mark on August 7, 30 lakh on August 23 and it went past 40 lakh on September 5.

According to the ICMR, a cumulative total of 5,62,60,928 samples have been tested up to September 12 with 10,71,702 samples being tested on Saturday.

Four more die of COVID-19 in UP's Muzaffarnagar, toll climbs to 43

Four more people died of COVID-19 in Uttar Pradesh's Muzaffarnagar, raising the toll in the district to 43, officials said on Sunday.

The deceased included a 70-year-old man from Abkari locality, a 40-year-old woman from Kirshanpuri, a 65-year-old man from the New Mandi area and a 45-year-old woman from Meerapur town, they said.

On Saturday, the district had recorded 127 new COVID-19 cases. 

There are 1,075 active coronavirus cases in the district as of now, officials said.

Over 36 lakh COVID-19 patients have recovered in India: Health Ministry  

New Delhi: India's COVID-19 recovered patients have seen a "steep exponential rise" from 50,000 patients in May to over 36 lakh patients in September which is "nearly" 3.8 times the active cases, said the Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare on Sunday.

"India's COVID-19 recoveries have witnessed a steep exponential rise - from 50,000 in May to over 36 lakhs in September. A high level of more than 70,000 recoveries reported every day. Recoveries are nearly 3.8 times the Active Cases (under 1/4 total cases)," Union Health Ministry tweeted.

The Ministry further said, "Focussed, collaborative, responsive and effective measures of early identification through high and aggressive testing, prompt surveillance and tracking coupled with standardized high-quality clinical care have in tandem led to these encouraging outcomes."

With the highest spike of 97,570 new cases of COVID-19 reported in the last 24 hours, India's coronavirus tally has gone beyond the 46-lakh mark, the central government said on Saturday.

With this latest spike, the count of COVID-19 cases stands at 46,59,985 of which, there are a total of 9,58,316 active cases while 36,24,197 patients have been cured/discharged/migrated, the Union health ministry said.

The death toll due to coronavirus in the country rose to 77,472 after 1,201 deaths due to COVID-19 were reported in the last 24 hours

198 new Covid-19 cases in Noida; infections top 10,000

The number of people infected by Covid-19 has surpassed 10,000 in Uttar Pradesh's Gautam Buddh Nagar district after 198 new cases were detected, officials said.

District Information Officer Rakesh Chauhan on Saturday said 198 people tested positive for Covid-19 since Friday, taking the tally of infected people to 10,204, while 117 patients have recovered.

A total of 1,990 patients are being treated in different COVID hospitals in the district.

At least 7,968 patients have been discharged in the district, so far.

Four more people died of COVID-19 in Uttar Pradesh's Muzaffarnagar, raising the toll in the district to 43, officials said on Sunday.

The deceased included a 70-year-old man from Abkari locality, a 40-year-old woman from Kirshanpuri, a 65-year-old man from the New Mandi area and a 45-year-old woman from Meerapur town, they said.

On Saturday, the district had recorded 127 new COVID-19 cases. 

There are 1,075 active coronavirus cases in the district as of now, officials said.

Over 36 lakh COVID-19 patients have recovered in India: Health Ministry  

New Delhi: India's COVID-19 recovered patients have seen a "steep exponential rise" from 50,000 patients in May to over 36 lakh patients in September which is "nearly" 3.8 times the active cases, said the Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare on Sunday.

"India's COVID-19 recoveries have witnessed a steep exponential rise - from 50,000 in May to over 36 lakhs in September. A high level of more than 70,000 recoveries reported every day. Recoveries are nearly 3.8 times the Active Cases (under 1/4 total cases)," Union Health Ministry tweeted.

The Ministry further said, "Focussed, collaborative, responsive and effective measures of early identification through high and aggressive testing, prompt surveillance and tracking coupled with standardized high-quality clinical care have in tandem led to these encouraging outcomes."

With the highest spike of 97,570 new cases of COVID-19 reported in the last 24 hours, India's coronavirus tally has gone beyond the 46-lakh mark, the central government said on Saturday.

With this latest spike, the count of COVID-19 cases stands at 46,59,985 of which, there are a total of 9,58,316 active cases while 36,24,197 patients have been cured/discharged/migrated, the Union health ministry said.

The death toll due to coronavirus in the country rose to 77,472 after 1,201 deaths due to COVID-19 were reported in the last 24 hours

198 new Covid-19 cases in Noida; infections top 10,000

The number of people infected by Covid-19 has surpassed 10,000 in Uttar Pradesh's Gautam Buddh Nagar district after 198 new cases were detected, officials said.

District Information Officer Rakesh Chauhan on Saturday said 198 people tested positive for Covid-19 since Friday, taking the tally of infected people to 10,204, while 117 patients have recovered.

A total of 1,990 patients are being treated in different COVID hospitals in the district.

At least 7,968 patients have been discharged in the district, so far.
