Health Ministry Jt Secy Lav Agarwal tests positive for COVID-19

Health Ministry Joint Secretary Lav Agarwal, who was the government’s spokesperson at the height of the COVID-19 pandemic outbreak in the beginning, on Friday tested positive for the virus.

48-year-old Agarwal today took to Twitter to say, “Dear All, Just to inform that I have tested positive for COVID 19 and initiating home isolation as per guidelines. Requesting all my friends, colleagues for self-monitoring. Contact tracing will be done by the Health Team. Hoping to see everyone soon.”

MP Minister discharged from hospital after recovering from COVID-19

Madhya Pradesh Minister of Water Resource Department Tulsi Silawat was discharged from hospital after being treated for COVID-19, on Friday. 

Silawat and his wife had tested positive for the novel coronavirus on July 29. He thanked all the doctors, nurses and paramedical staff after getting discharged from the hospital.

AP records 8,943 cases

Andhra Pradesh reported 8,943 Covid-19 cases on Friday, pushing the overall tally to 2,73,085.

These cases were registered in the last 24 hours from 53,026 tests but 9,779 coronavirus patients got cured and discharged from hospitals across the state.

Also, 97 fresh casualties were reported pushing the death toll to 2,475.

Himachal Pradesh reports 36 fresh cases

Thirty-six more people tested positive for COVID-19 in Himachal Pradesh on Friday, taking the infection tally to 3,853 in the state, an official said.

There are 1,325 active cases in the state, while a total of 2,474 patients have recovered from the disease, Additional Chief Secretary (Health) R D Dhiman said.

Kerala CM goes into self-quarantine 

Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan and three other ministers went into self-quarantine on Friday after they came in the primary contact list of Malappuram district collector who tested positive for the coronavirus infection.

Malappuram Collector K Gopalakrishnan had coordinated the search and rescue operations at the Karipur International Airport after an Air India Express flight had veered off the tabletop runway and crashed into a valley and broke into pieces on August 7.

TN reports 5,890 new cases 

Tamil Nadu reports 5,890 new COVID-19 cases and 117 deaths on Friday 

According to the State Health  Department, the total number of cases in the state reaches to 3,26,245 including 5,514 deaths and 53,716 active cases.

Kerala reported 1,569 new COVID-19 cases in the last 24 hours, taking active cases to 14,094. 

A total of 26,996 patients have recovered from the disease in the state so far.

Telangana reports 1,921 new cases in last 24 hours

Telangana's coronavirus cases' tally crossed the 88,000-mark on Friday as 1,921 new cases were detected across the state during the last 24 hours, officials said.

Nine more fatalities pushed the state's death toll to 674.

Of the total 88,396 cases in Telangana now, active cases total 23,438, including 16,439 in home or institutional isolation. More than 84 per cent of those in home isolation are asymptomatic.

UP reports 55 more deaths, 4,512 fresh cases

The COVID-19 death toll in Uttar Pradesh reached 2,335 on Friday after 55 more patients succumbed to the disease, while the caseload rose to 1,45,287 with 4,512 fresh infections, an official said.

Additional Chief Secretary (Medical and Health) Amit Mohan Prasad said there are 50,426 active cases in the state, of which 23,861 are under home isolation.

So far, a total of 92,526 people have been discharged after recovering from the disease, he said.

Delhi reports 1,192 new cases, 11 deaths

Delhi on Friday reported 1,192 new COVID-19 cases taking the total number of cases in the national capital to 1,50,652. 

According to the Delhi government's health department, a total of 11 deaths were reported today, taking the death toll to 4,178 deaths. There are 11,366 active cases in the national capital.

As many as 790 patients were recovered/discharged/migrated today, taking the number of such patients to 1,35,108.

Home Minister Amit Shah tested negative for COVID-19 on Friday.

"Today my report has come negative. I thank God and I express my heartfelt gratitude to all those who has prayed for mine recovery. Will stay in home isolation for a few more days on the advice of doctors," Home Minister Amit Shah wrote on Twitter.

As many as 147 more policemen tested COVID-19 positive in the last 24 hours in Maharashtra, taking the tally to 11,920, said the state police department on Friday. 

The total number of coronavirus cases includes 2,227 active cases, 9,569 recovered cases, and 124 deaths of police personnel in the state till date.

Puducherry reports 328 new cases

As many as 328 new COVID-19 cases, four deaths, and 181 cured cases were reported in the union territory today, said the Health Department of Puducherry. 

The total number of coronavirus cases has gone up to 6,995, including 2,880 active cases, 4,009 cured cases, and 106 deaths.

Lucknow CMO issues rate list for treatment of COVID-19 patients

Lucknow Chief Medical Officer (CMO) RP Singh on Thursday issued rate list for treatment of COVID-19 patients at private hospitals in the city. 

During the meeting, a committee was also formed, which will strictly monitor hospitals that charge hefty amounts from the public.

COVID-19 recovery rate improving with each day: Dr Harsh Vardhan

Union Health and Family Welfare Minister Dr Harsh Vardhan have stated that the COVID-19 recovery rate is improving in the country with each day.

"Remember the press conference when I said the recovery rate was 9 per cent. Since then, there had not been a single day when the day's recovery rate was not better than the previous day's. Also, fatalities have also been decreasing with each passing day," he said.

Congress leader Surendra Prakash Goel dies of COVID

Former Ghaziabad MP and senior Congress leader Surendra Prakash Goel, who was tested positive for COVID, died on Friday after admitted to Gangaram Hospital in Delhi for the last fifteen days. 

His death has been confirmed by his son Sushant Goel.

According to the reports, a coronavirus test was conducted of the former MP on July 20, after he tested positive he was self-isolated. 

On August 2, the 70-year-old was admitted to Gangaram Hospital in Delhi on the recommendation of city legislator and Minister of State for Health Atul Garg.

Health Department of Telangana said that the state reported 1,921 new COVID-19 cases, 1,210 recovered cases & 9 deaths reported on August 13 till 8 pm, taking the total number of cases to 88,396 in the state. 

A total of 23,438 active cases are recorded here and 64,284 recoveries and 674 deaths so far.

COVID LIVE: 64,553 cases reported in 24 hrs push India's tally to over 2.4 million

Hyderabad: India on Friday logged 64,553 Covid-19 cases, taking the overall tally to over 2.4 million. As many as 1,007 people succumbed to the infection, which took the overall death toll to over 48,000. 

More than 1.7 million people in India have recovered from Covid-19 so far and the overall recovery rate has crossed 71%. 

On Wednesday, the country tested more than 800,000 people for the infection, moving closer to the target of conduction a million tests per day.

Andhra Pradesh, Bihar, Assam and Karnataka continue to remain worst-affected from the pandemic. Assam on Wednesday registered over 4,500 cases in its highest single-day spike. The state’s recovery rate is now at 68.4%.

Delhi, which has seen a downward trend in its single day Covid-19 tally in the past few weeks, added 956 cases on Thursday. The national capital's Covid-19 tally has reached 1,49, 460 and the death toll stands at 4,167.
