Hyderabad: Serum Institute of India (SII) on Friday said it has entered into a new partnership with international vaccine alliance Gavi and Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation to accelerate manufacturing and delivery of up to 100 million doses of Covid-19 vaccines for India as well as other low and middle-income countries (LMICs). Meanwhile, India's Covid-19 tally crossed the two million mark to stand at 2,027,074 while fatalities were recorded at 41,585 on Friday, data released by the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare revealed.

Delhi

New Delhi: Delhi Health Minister Satyendar Jain told media persons on Friday that when AIIMS Director Dr Randeep Guleria said that plasma therapy on COVID-19 patients did not show much clinical benefit in reducing fatality risk caused due to the virus, he did not mean plasma therapy was ineffective.

Uttar Pradesh

Lucknow: An Uttar Pradesh Police inspector who tested negative for the COVID-19 virus twice in eight days died at a Lucknow hospital on Wednesday, a few days after he was admitted and a third test revealed him to be coronavirus-positive.

Inspector Indrajeet Singh Bhadauriya, 47, was a native of UP's Unnao district who joined the police force as a Constable in 1989.

Punjab

Chandigarh: Punjab Chief Minister Amarinder Singh on Friday ordered night curfew from 9 pm to 5 am in the worst affected cities of Ludhiana, Jalandhar and Patiala from Saturday while directing all big cities and towns to prepare an integrated management plan for Covid-19 treatment.

Besides Manpreet, defender Surender Kumar, Jaskaran Singh, drag-flicker Varun Kumar and goalkeeper Krishan Bahadur Pathak have also tested positive for the dreaded Novel Coronavirus.

Madhya Pradesh

Bhopal: Another politician has tested positive for Covid-19 in MP. Former minister and Congress MLA, Harsh Yadav, was diagnosed with the infection. So far, more than 10 politicians of the state have contracted the virus. Overall, Madhya Pradesh reported 830 new coronavirus patients on Thursday, 157 of them in Indore, which took the case tally in the state to 36,564, the health department said.

Odisha

Bhubaneswar: In order to take care of the Novel Corona Virus (COVID-19) patients, Odisha Mining Corporation (OMC) has set up three COVID Care Homes (CCHs) in various Mining Zones.

Hyderabad: As many as 182 police personnel of Hyderabad City, who recovered from COVID-19 reported back to duty on Thursday.
