Hyderabad: With more than 17,000 new cases and 418 deaths in the last 24 hours, India's COVID-19 count reached 4,73,105 on Thursday. According to the latest update by the Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare (MoHFW), 14,894 deaths have been recorded due to the infection so far in the country.
Delhi
The Anil Baijal-led Delhi Disaster Management Authority on Thursday agreed to reverse his order that mandated all COVID-19 patients visit state-run COVID facilities for evaluation. Baijal made the announcement on Twitter over the controversial rule that has drawn widespread criticism from the public and the Arvind Kejriwal government.
Meanwhile, Delhi surpassed Mumbai in the tally of COVID-19 cases, thereby becoming India’s worst-hit city. In all, 3,788 new cases of the viral infection were reported.
Maharashtra
Amid the rising cases of coronavirus COVID-19, the Maharashtra government has decided to re-open gyms and salons in the state within a week, state minister Aslam Sheikh said on Thursday. He added that the guidelines for the same will be issued.
He also added that the Uddhav Thackeray-led government has not taken any decision on allowing religious gatherings in the state.
Maharashtra has so far recorded 142,900 cases and 6,739 deaths as per the data provided by the Union Health Ministry.
Rajasthan
In the wake of spurt in cases of coronavirus across the state, a partial curfew has been imposed in at least 50 police station areas in Jaipur. As many as 221 areas have been identified where the curfew has been imposed. Additional police personnel have also been deployed in all curfew affected areas.
Meanwhile, 76 fresh coronavirus cases were reported in the state on Thursday taking the total number of positive cases to 16,085. No death was reported on Thursday. A total of 12,646 -19 patients have recovered so far and 12,386 of them have been discharged. There are currently 3,064 active cases in the state.
Bihar
Canara Bank AGM was tested positive for novel coronavirus on Thursday. He is 56-year-old and admitted to AIIMS in Patna. He had recently travelled to Delhi from Aligarh and then returned to Patna.
Meanwhile, with 223 new cases, the state's tally rose to 8273 whereas 55 deaths have been reported so far.
Haryana
The Haryana government is considering imposing a limited lockdown in Gurugram which could last around 10 days.
A senior government official said this had come up for discussion during chief minister Manohar Lal Khattar’s visit to the city last week. During discussions, the need to step up containment measures was felt.
Meanwhile, Due to the negligence of private labs in the city, phone numbers and other details mentioned of as many as 200 patients are wrong. The state health department has sent a show-cause notice to at least 5 labs, including Medanta lab, regarding this.
Haryana on Thursday reported one death and 13 new cases of coronavirus, taking the state’s death toll to 189 and case tally to 12,023.
Chhattisgarh
A day after fifteen personnel of BSF tested positive for COVID-19 in Kanker, a CRPF officer of 229 Battalion was tested positive on Thursday in Bijapur. District Collector Ritesh Agarwal confirmed that this was the first case reported in the district.
Meanwhile, a total of 12 people have died of COVID-19 in the state so far.
