New Delhi: The Congress has condemned registration of FIR against interim chief Sonia Gandhi in Shivamogga in Karnataka for questioning PM-CARES fund. Congress said this "BJP dictatorial mindset is an attempt to threaten transparency."
Congress Spokesperson Jaiveer Shergill in a statement said, "Registration of FIR against Smt Sonia Gandhi in Shivamogga Karnataka for raising questions on PM Cares Fund depicts BJP's dictatorial mindset."
"This is an attempt to threaten transparency, avoid answerability and it exposes BJP's nervousness on audit of the Fund," added Shergill.

Party spokesperson Abhishek Manu Singhvi in the past had said: "Our only worry with PM Cares Fund is that it's not being spent on the victims of Covid-19 which use can be both direct and incidental."
"We only demand an independent audit by CAG or any other credible independent agency and daily updates. Not too much to ask from a public fund," added Singhvi.
Congress leader DK Shivakumar demands withdrawal of FIR:
Karnataka Congress Chief DK Shivakumar has written to Chief Minister BS Yediyurappa, demanding the withdrawal of the FIR registered against Congress President Sonia Gandhi over the party's tweet regarding PM CARES Fund on May 11.
Haryana Congress President slams BJP
Slamming the BJP for doing petty politics, Haryana Congress Committee President Kumari Shailja said, "Sonia Gandhi has done many scarifices and the party is extending support to the migrants during the corona-induced lockdown. BJP cannot tolerate this, hence it is indulging in such malicious activities."
Party has full rights to ask questions, says Congress spokesperson Supriya Shrinate
Congress spokesperson Supriya Shrinate said,"There is nothing wrong in questioning the Government, as it is the right of every opposition party.
While addressing the press conference, Shrinate said, "It is extremely unfortunate that at a time of national emergency, vendetta politics is being played. Under democracy, opposition parties have all the rights to question Government. Our leadership in Karnataka, DK Shivkumar has taken this case into consideration. We condemn it at the highest level."
"I want to ask this question over the matter that if there is money in PM-CARES fund, then why these migrant labourers are being forces to walk hundred of miles to reach their homes?" Supriya added.
She also condemned the arrest of UP Congress Chief, Ajay Kumar Lallu by Lucknow police. She said, "All sections that he has been charged with a ridiculous. In the FIR he has been accused of causing loss to the people, but he was actually helping them. Everyone in UP understands this dirty politics of BJP Government."
"Dirty politics is being played out even at the time of Corona Pandemic. Not only did Yogi Government reject our offer to help migrant labourers by plying 1000 buses, but also he had sent UP Congress Chief to 14 days custody. This is unimaginable," said Congress spokesperson.
The war of words got fuelled up between Congress members and Agra Administration when the buses were being stopped at the Rajasthan-UP border, and the state administration alleged that the party had given registration number of two-wheelers and three-wheelers in the details of those 1000 buses. "This is political vendetta. We request you that you leave aside this politics, reconsider the allegations against UP Congress chief and also end this politics of vengeance," she asserted.(IANS)
