New Delhi: Congress has once again renewed its attack on Bhartiya Janata Party (BJP) on Sunday alleging that PM-CARES received Rs 9,678 crore fund from Chinese companies on May 20, 2020, when Chinese forces had reportedly intruded into the Indian territory.
"What is most worrying and alarming for the national security is the donations received by Prime Minister Narendra Modi from Chinese companies in his, seemingly personal, PM-CARES fund. No one knows the operational framework of PM-CARES fund, how is it controlled and how is the money utilised," said Congress MP, Abhishek Manu Singhvi during a virtual press conference.
He further added, "The fund is not even subjected to audit by any public authority including CAG. PMO has gone to the extent of saying this fund is not a public authority. PM-CARES fund is not even subjected to RTI. The fund appears to be solely run by the Prime Minister in an opaque and secret fashion with zero transparency and zero accountability."
While questioning the Government over this matter, Singhvi claimed that PM has received Rs 7 crore from HUAWEI, Rs 30 crore from Tiktok, Rs 100 crore from Paytm, Rs 15 crore from XIAOMI and even Rs 1 crore from Oppo.

"Why has PM Modi received Chinese money in PM-CARES fund, despite the overt Chinese hostilities? Has PM diverted the donations received to Prime Minister's National Relief Fund (PMNRF) to controversial PM-CARES fund? If PM of India will compromise his position by accepting donations of hundreds of crores from Chinese companies in the controversial and Opaque find how will he defend the country against Chinese aggression?" asked the Congress leader.
The statement came amid the political mudslinging between BJP and Congress on the issue of donations from the Chinese firm to Rajiv Gandhi Foundation in the year 2005. BJP President JP Nadda, on Saturday, asked 10 questions to the Congress party including its relationship with Communist Party of China.
Giving a scathing reply to BJP, Singhvi said, "No President of any political party in this country had continuous exchanges with CCP like BJP had, right from Rajnath Singh to Gadkari ji to Amit Shah, whose dedications visited China repeatedly from 2007 to 2014. As we all know Prime Minister has a special soft stance for China who had 18 meetings with the country."
He alleged, "In 2014, when Modi ji was playing 'Jhula diplomacy' with Chinese President, their troops were going towards our territory at Point 30R post in Chumar and similarly to Doklam plateau in 2017."

He added, "Delusional Modi government continues to sidestep the present Chinese transgressions and occupation of our territory by Chinese forces. PM served the Sinister agenda of Chinese by claiming that it has never included into Indian territory this is the greatest this service to the nation."
Congress demanded that the Government should stop accepting funds from Chinese companies and said: "China is an aggressor, it has included so many square kilometres at Indian territory and we are not going to compromise our national security at any cost."
