Coaching centres are Kota's 'lifeline', administration trying to invite students back: LS Speaker

Lok Sabha Speaker and Kota MP Om Birla, during a recent visit to his constituency, spoke to ETV Bharat and said that coaching institutes are the "lifeline" of the city while stressing that the administration is trying to create a "positive atmosphere" to invite the students back.

Kota (Rajasthan): With most students fleeing back home from Rajasthan's Kota - a major coaching hub for competitive examination preparations - amid the coronavirus outbreak, Lok Sabha Speaker and Kota MP Om Birla termed the coaching institutes as the "lifeline" of the city while stressing that the administration is trying to create a "positive atmosphere" to invite the students back.

"Coaching institutes are the lifeline of Kota. The administration is trying to revive the industry by creating a positive atmosphere for the students," Birla told ETV Bharat during a trip to his constituency.

On the beginning of Parliament's monsoon session amid Covid-19, Birla said that they are holding discussions on the matter and a decision is yet to taken.

When asked about Prime Minister Narendra's recent pitch for an "Aatmanirbhar Bharat" or self-reliant India, Birla said, "The government is trying to make India self-reliant, and Prime Minister Narendra Modi has also announced a package in this regard. He has also held talks with the state governments to figure out ways to ensure cooperation between the Centre and the state."

"They are also trying to create employment opportunity for all. I feel these are all positive steps and will bear fruit soon, " added the Lok Sabha Speaker.

Birla is on an official trip to Kota and is likely to stay there till June 7.
