Raipur: In a first, the Chhattisgarh government on Wednesday announced that it will ensure the admission of NEET-qualified students in private medical colleges from remote areas who have failed to register themselves for counselling.
Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel has instructed the district administration officials that admission of such students should be made on paid seats in the private medical colleges in the state. The state government will bear all the expenses.
Baghel said that the children's future should not be compromised.
The state government's decision comes in the wake of the disappointment expressed by the tribal students belonging to the Maoist-hit areas of Chhattisgarh after they couldn't register themselves for counselling. The Chief Minister learned that 27 students of remote Dantewada district, who qualified NEET bur could not go for the first round of counseling due to network barriers following which he instructed the officers to take necessary action.

Initially, the district administration helped them with their registration before the second round of counseling but the students were not selected. After the first round of counseling, two students Kumari Padma and Piyusha were found to be eligible for admission in MBBS.
Upon CM's orders, the Dantewara collector is now taking action to ensure the admission of these students in private colleges.
Baghel further said that if any other student is found qualified for admission after the cut, the govt would make provisions for their admission and bear all the expenses.
People charged the education department officers with negligence stating that their children lost their opportunity because of them.
The tribal committee stated that they have communicated with the CM, health minister and local MLAs but there was no result but now after the CM's decision, they heaved a sigh of relief.
