Adding further he said that it is for people who have some heritage in this country or who have at some point been a part of this part country but due to partition like 1947 and few other historical events they had to live in other countries like Pakistan and Afghanistan. He said that the act doesn't have a single line which says that anyone would be turned out.

Explaining further he said that people who are Hindu, Christians, Parsis who are a minority there and have been humiliated will be given citizenship."It is these people who have been persecuted," said Garg.

On being asked about persecution of Muslims in the 3 Islamic countries by forces like Taliban, former Justice said, "Taliban is an international issue and people who are a majority in the countries and they have an elected government there should look into the matter."

Commenting further on Muslim illegal immigrants, Garg said," Once Pakistan has been made it is for them to go there." The Muslims who chose to live here have been given full respect just like Hindus.

After the CAA was passed in the parliament, huge protests have broken out countrywide and various incidents of violence by the protestors as well as police have been reported. It has resulted in deaths as well as highly criticised by the opposition and various intellectuals.

The opposition has also been carrying out protests demanding the rollback of CAA terming it unconstitutional. The act has been called violative of Article14, 15 and 21 and has been challenged by around 60 petitioners, including politicians and activists, in the Supreme Court. The apex court had issued notice to the government in this regard and will hear all the petitions in January after the winter vacation.
