Ghaziabad: After two months of corona-triggered lockdown, factories have resumed operations in the country with challenges looming over factory owners as labourers and materials are difficult to find. Inspite of industrial units been granted permission to restart operations after lockdown 4.0 with full workforce, production is affected due to labour crisis.
In an exclusive interview with ETV Bharat, Arun Sharma, president of the Ghaziabad Industries Association said, "Businesses may take six months to get up and run normally. Indian factories have made a muted start but still the manufacturing sector is facing a lot of difficulties, especially after Delhi Ghaziabad border has been sealed. Industrial production has come down by 50 percent."

Sharma said, "Import of spare parts have been halted as government in its guidelines had clearly stated that only people with valid passes and those engaged in essential services will be allowed to travel from Delhi to Ghaziabad. Industrial operations are not running smoothly as there is no movement of raw materials across the border."
Speaking about labour crisis, Arun Sharma explained, "Factories are facing shortage of labourers which is affecting production. Even if the factories have resumed operations, production has not started in a full-fledged manner as 50 percent of the labourers have returned home."
