Hamirpur: A 30-year-old youth was arrested by Uttar Pradesh Police after the burnt body of an eight-year-old girl was found in Hamirpur, triggering panic in the area. Body of the minor was recovered from Maudaha on Saturday in adjoining Hamirpur district.
Cops suspect occult practices behind the murder and said that the victim was set ablaze by a truck driver. The accused was arrested from the same house where the body of the minor was found in a decomposed state.
Two days back, Poonam was abducted after which a complaint was lodged by her family members at Kotwali Police station.
"Locals informed us about a burning smell on Friday night under Kotwali police station. When we reached the house, we found the burnt body of the minor. Few objects related to occult science practices have also been recovered from the spot. We have arrested the accused," said Shlok Kumar, SP.
