Bengaluru: An investigation by the Central Crime Branch (CCB) has revealed that the Baptist Hospital in Hebbal, Bengaluru provided a fake COVID-19 positive report to former mayor Sampath Raj to protect him from an enquiry into the Bangalore riots case and attack on MLA Akhanda Srinivasamurthy’s house.

Sampath Raj was hospitalized on September 14. At this time, hospital staff did not allow CCB officials to visit the hospital.

At the end of the 'first treatment period', he was hospitalized again saying he was re-infected with Coronavirus. But now, the CCB has realised that the hospital had provided a fake COVID-19 positive report to the mayor.

Friends' mobiles are switched off:

Police have launched a search for Sampath Raj who is absconding. Even his friends' mobile phones are switched off.

CCB had issued a notice to him asking him to join the enquiry. But the former Mayor failed to appear before it. His friends who were summoned in the case are also not reachable.
