BJP demands Azam Khan's apology on 'Bajrang-Ali' remark

Samajwadi Party candidate Mohammad Azam Khan who is pitted against BJP's Jaya Prada from Rampur Lok Sabha seat has again triggered a new controversy after he dared BJP not to make a fight between Ali (Muslim) and Bajrangbali (Hindu).

New Delhi: In a reply to Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, Samajwadi Party's leader and Mahagathbandhan candidate from Rampur Azam Khan has triggered a fresh controversy by referring Bajrangbali as 'Bajrang-Ali' in his speech.

Addressing a public gathering in Uttar Pradesh's Rampur, he dared BJP not to make a fight between Ali and Bajrangbali. Samajwadi Party leader Azam Khan is pitted against BJP’s Jaya Prada from Rampur.

CM Yogi Adityanath had earlier on Tuesday stoked controversy when in a rally in Meerut, he suggested that Hindu and Muslim voters are in an "Ali-Bajrang Bali" tussle.

Talking to ETV Bharat, BJP's National Spokesperson Prem Shukla condemned Azam Khan's statement.

"By this statement, Azam Khan has done a crime of hurting the sentiments of Hindu community. BJP never made any statement against anyone's faith," Prem Shukla said.

" He should not make statements like this at the time of elections. I want Election Commission of India to take serious action against him. Commission should cancel his nomination," Shukla added.

Talking to ETV Bharat, BJP's National Spokesperson Prem Shukla condemned Azam Khan's statement.

श्री शुक्ल ने कहा कि भाजपा ने कभी किसी की आस्था के खिलाफ कोई बयान नही दिया है कभी और जिस तरह के बयान आज़म खान ने दिया ही उसपर उन्हें जनत भी जवाब देगी और चुनाव आयोग को कारवी करनी चाहिए
