Patna: Two people from the liquor mafia gang were arrested for allegedly attacking the police with the stone near R block rail tracks of Jakkanpur police station area of Patna.
Firing by the state police took place against liquor mafia after the latter engaged in stone-pelting on the former in the area near R block rail tracks of Jakkanpur police station area of the capital Patna on Saturday.
"We had received information in the morning that liquor bottles were being offloaded from a train by some people. The police team reached there and were faced with stone-pelting from the people near the railway track," Patna SSP Upendra Sharma said.
"In the stone-pelting, one of our ASIs has sustained injuries. Two persons have been arrested in the matter. They have been charge-sheeted under law," he added.
After this incident, there is a tense situation in the whole area. In this incident, policemen were also injured, who were initially treated at PMCH in Patna. After initial treatment, policemen have been sent to a private hospital for treatment.
"When the train was stopped at outer signal of Patna railway station near R-block crossing, the liquor traffickers deboarded there with consignment. When police chased them, they pelted stones on cops in a bid to flee from the spot," said SHO of concerned Jakkanpur police station.

Two persons including a sub-inspector were injured after an encounter between police and liquor mafia in R-block railway crossing here, police said. The liquor mafias have smuggled liquor consignment from Jharkhand in a special train bound to Patna via Gaya.
Liquor sale in Bihar is completely banned by the government. The local police have information about the liquor consignment, subsequently, Patna police deployed a team at a railway crossing, police said on Sunday.
In retaliation, senior officials have sent reinforcement at the place. Till the time, they started firing on police party leading on our one Sub-inspector Ashutosh Kr Rai sustained gunshot injuries in leg. The police team also fired in retaliation to disperse them. Paswan also sustained gunshot injury, " he said.
Both the injured were admitted to a private hospital. Further investigation is on.
