Ayodhya railway station to get a full makeover, first phase to be completed by June 2021

In background of the construction of Ram temple at Ayodhya, Railway Ministry has initiated a full makeover of Ayodhya railway station. The first phase of the new Ayodhya Railway Station will be completed by June 2021. As per the official statement, this overhaul of the station assumes significance as the construction of Ram Temple is likely to be completed by 2023-24.

New Delhi: As India is all set to witness the grand ceremony of Ram Temple's foundation stone laying, which will be held on August 5, Ministry of Railways has started the work to redevelop Ayodhya Railway Station with modern facilities. The architecture of Ayodhya Railway station has also been modelled on the Ram Temple.

The redevelopment will be done in two phases. Under the first phase, the development of platform areas will be done, while in the second one, the new building of Railway station will be developed with modern facilities for circulating areas, dormitories, ticketing, toilets etc.

Railway Ministry informed that the first phase of new Ayodhya Railway Station will be completed by June 2021. As per the official statement, this overhaul of the station assumes significance as the construction of Ram Temple is likely to be completed by 2023-24. The budget to revamp Ayodhya Railway station has also been increased to Rs 104.77 crores. Earlier, Railways had given approval of Rs 80 crores for the new station building. Officials informed that the project has been expedited.

Sanjay Tripathi, Divisional Railway Manager, stated that Ayodhya being a holy city has great significance, hence continuous efforts are being made to provide a modernised look and facilities to its Railway Station and the devotees. While sharing the photos of the new design of the station, Minister of Railways Piyush Goyal tweeted, "For the crores of devotees visiting the Ram temple, Railways is redeveloping the Ayodhya station under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi."
