New Delhi: Republican Party of India president and Union Minister Ramdas Athawale on Tuesday termed the Lok Sabha election 2019 akin to a cricket match and adjudged Narendra Modi as a batsman who sends balls only to boundaries and emerges victorious.
He said, "Election is just like a cricket match and PM Modi is a wonderful batsman. In 2019, people have voted PM Modi for his work."
Athawale said NDA's victory is a foregone conclusion in 2019 Lok Sabha elections and Narendra Modi will once again become prime minister of the country.
Commenting on EVM malfunction, he said, "There can be glitches in EVM, but it's not necessary that it will benefit only BJP. It can also go for BSP, SP or Congress. The opposition's doubts on EVM glitches is unfounded."
Speaking to ETV Bharat on differences with NDA, Athawale said, " I wanted a ticket for Lok Sabha election, but it was told to me that I need to campaign for the party and they assured me that I will be elected for Rajya Sabha."
Praising PM Modi, Athawale said that he has completed the Babasaheb Ambedkar memorial in five years and has also worked for Dalits.
"I have worked efficiently in the present ministry and I will give my best to whatever ministry PM Modi is given to me in future" he added.
Talking about PM Modi's caste, he said, "He belongs to OBC but I don't why the opposition is calling him fake OBC. Such statements by the opposition is a bad practice. People after seeing such accusations have again decided to elect Narendra Modi as Prime Minister."
