New Delhi: Finance Minister Arun Jaitley lashed out at Congress leader and Rahul Gandhi's close aide Sam Pitroda for his comments on IAF's air strike on a terror camp in Balakot following the Pulwama attack, terming his statement as "unfortunate" and a "blessing for Pakistan's narrative".
"There is no country that has criticised the surgical strikes or the air strikes conducted by India except for one nation, Pakistan. The fact that senior Congress leaders are speaking the same language is unfortunate and also hurts the sentiments of the country. It's unfortunate that such people are ideologues of a political party," he said.
"He believes what we did was wrong.Such people have no connect with India's security requirements, the pain and loss we have suffered over the last three decades because of terrorism," he added.
Earlier on Friday, Indian Overseas Congress chief Sam Pitroda raised questions on death tolls in Balakot air strikes and said that he wantedto "know more" about the strike and number of terrorists killed in it. He also said that it was not right to punish Pakistan because of a few terrorists.
The senior BJP leader also took a jibe at Rahul Gandhi on Sam Pitroda's statement without taking any names.
"If the teacher is of such opinion, then the disciple is bound to be useless. Unfortunately, this is not the first time that senior leaders from the Congress party have made such statements," he said.
Praising the Modi government's approach on national security, Arun Jaitley claimed that the country's security has significantly evolved.
"We were earlier defending ourselves when the terrorists attacked the country. Today, we dig out the origin and destroy the terror bases wherever they perpetuate. Both surgical strike and sir strike were meant to do that. ," said Jaitley.
With general elections rising the political temperature in the country, such statements by senior Congress leader has given an edge to the BJP who would leave no chance to attack or counter any such statement made by the leaders of the opposition party.
