New Delhi: Activists Harsh Mander, Anjali Bharadwaj and Jagdeep Chhokar have filed an application through Advocate Prashant Bhushan expressing their urge to assist the Supreme Court in petitions dealing with the plight of migrants during the lockdown.
Harsh Mander is a former bureaucrat, Anjali Bharadwaj is a social activist and Jagdeep S Chhokar is former Professor, Dean and Director in-charge of IIM, Ahemdabad.
Mander and Bharadwaj had filed PILs before the top court on April 1 earlier this year seeking relief for the migrants who were stranded in different parts of the country unable to sustain themselves during the lockdown.
It is to be noted that the apex court had taken a suo moto cognizance of the miseries and problems of the migrants and the case is listed for hearing on Friday.
