3 young men die trying to secure ball from dry well in Bihar

Three young people died of asphyxiation while trying to retrieve their cricket ball from a dry well in Vaishali area in Bihar. They were declared brought dead by doctors at the hospital.

Vaishali (Bihar): Three young people died as they got down in a dry well to secure their cricket ball. The incident took place in Bihar's Vaishali area on Saturday.

Some youngsters were playing cricket in Gurmiya village of the district when the incident took place, local people told ETV Bharat.

They said as the ball fell into the well, one of the men got down to get it and he immediately became unconscious. To help him, another one got down in the well and he too became unconscious, following which third-person went inside the well and he also met with the same fate.

"On seeing this, the villagers got them out of the well, using bamboo sticks," an eye witness said.

The villagers alleged that two brothers and their friend died of asphyxiation due to the presence of poisonous gas inside the dry well.

Thinking they might be still alive, the villagers rushed them to a nearby hospital where they were declared brought dead.
