210 defence procurement deals signed in past 4 yrs: Def Min

Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, in a written reply in Rajya Sabha on Monday, said that a total of 210 contracts have been signed for capital procurement of defence equipment during the last four financial years. For modernisation, contracts for helicopters, naval vessels radars, ballistic helmets, artillery guns, simulators, missiles, bulletproof jackets, etc, have been signed.

New Delhi: During the last four financial years, a total of 210 contracts have been signed for capital procurement of defence equipment, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh told the Rajya Sabha on Monday.

While giving written information about the upgradation of capabilities of Armed forces, Singh said, "The government attaches the highest priority to ensure that the Armed forces are sufficiently equipped to meet any operational requirement. This is achieved through induction of new equipments and technological upgradation of capabilities."

For modernisation, contracts for helicopters, naval vessels radars, ballistic helmets, artillery guns, simulators, missiles, bullet proof jackets etc have been signed.

He denied there were any procedural delays due to bureaucratic hurdles, saying, "There are no procedural delays as powers have been transferred to forces now."

"There is no question of under-utilisation as more than 100 per cent utilisation of defence budget has been achieved," he said.

For modernisation contracts for Helicopters, Naval vessels Radars, Ballistic helmets, artillery guns, simulators, missiles, Bullet proof jackets etc have been signed.
