Around 20 MLA candidates of the All India United Democratic Front (AIUDF) party visited Amer palace and enjoyed elephant safari at elephant village.

Amer: In an unusual turn from heated political discussions, Assam MLA candidates during their visit to Jaipur set out for riding elephant in Amer. Around 20 MLA candidates of the All India United Democratic Front (AIUDF) party visited Amer palace and explored elephant village.

Earlier reports said that the MLAs were shifted to Jaipur as a precautionary measure taken up by the Mahajot alliance. They stayed at Fairmount hotel. The MLAs were enthralled by the beauty of the palace and quite intrigued by its history. They lauded the architecture of Diwan-i-Aam, Diwan-e-Khas, Mansingh Mahal, Sheesh Mahal.

Elephant village development committee chairman Ballu Khan, Hathi Palak Shahid Khan, Wajid Khan, Abdul Rahuf, Shaukat Ali, Forester Jogendra Singh, forest guard Prahlad Chaudhary accompanied them. Police officers were also present.

According to reports, the elephant village was set up by the local government of Rajasthan in 2010 with the intention to provide natural habitat to elephants as well as to provide proper shelter and amenities to families who take care of the elephants. The village is surrounded by Aravali mountain ranges and it is one of the key tourist attractions in Jaipur.

Amer palace has been inducted into the UNESCO world heritage list along with five other forts of Rajasthan. The royal splendour of Rajputanas lures over five thousand tourists every day. Raja Man Singh, Rajput ruler built the fort in 1592, reports said.

Raja Man Singh was an ally in the court of Akbar, so Mughal architectural style can be witnessed in many structures in the fort. It was built with red and white sandstones and it is a perfect blend of Hindu and Mughal style architectures.
