Arms and ammunition seized near Indo-Bhutan border in Assam

A huge quantity of arms and ammunition have been recovered from two districts of Assam near the Indo-Bhutan border in two different police operations. The two operations were carried by Darrang Police and Tamulpur Police.

Guwahati: A huge quantity of arms and ammunition have been recovered from two districts of Assam near the Indo-Bhutan border in two different police operations. The two operations were carried by Darrang Police and Tamulpur Police.

The Darrang Police have recovered 8 pairs of army uniforms including 5 handmade rifles in the raid. The operation was in the Char area of Mangaldoi district. The Police have also detained two persons with pair of police uniforms. The two detained persons have been identified as Harunul Rashid and Sahar Ali.

Meanwhile, a large number of arms have been found buried underground on the banks of the Shantipur Daranga river on the Indo-Bhutan border of Tamulpur in the Baksa district. Ten hand grenades, six 9MM pistol bullets, one empty magazine of Ak 47, 235 bullets of AK 47, 9 levers, 3 detonators and one revolver have been recovered.

The operation was led by Tamulpur subdivision police officer Aseema Kalita and officer-in-charge of Tamulpur Dwipen Kalita. Four persons have been arrested in connection with the incident. The arrested persons have been identified as Bethela Muchahari, Bilash Owari, Somkhour Muchahari and Kirti Raj Basumatary.
