Anil Deshmukh case: No coercive action doesn't mean stay in investigation, says SC

The Supreme Court has said that the order that no coercive be taken against former Maharashtra Home Minister Anil Deshmukh does not mean there is a stay in the investigation against him.

New Delhi: The Supreme court clarified Monday that in matters against former Maharashtra Home Minister Anil Deshmukh, where it was ordered that no coercive steps should be taken, does not mean that it is a stay on investigation.

A bench led by Justice AM Khanwilkar said that he needs to cooperate with the investigation and in case he has a problem with the order, he can file a formal application.

The court was hearing a bunch of pleas by Deshmukh seeking protection in money laundering cases registered by the Enforcement Directorate.
