Vijayawada (Andhra Pradesh): Several COVID-19 patients, including those needing urgent attention, were left stranded on Friday as some private hospitals in Andhra Pradesh refused to admit them.
They hung up boards that read "In regard to harassment of doctors we have stopped new COVID-19 admission into our hospitals." Such were reported mainly from hospitals in Rayalseema's Kadapa district.

This development came a day after the vigilance department raided nine hospitals and found several irregularities.
Following government orders, flying squads of the vigilance department had on Thursday raided these hospitals and reported irregularities.
The teams booked several hospitals for not treating patients under the state's Aarogyasri scheme, selling Remdesivir vials at a higher rate and footing high bills.
The flying squads booked cases against nine private hospitals in Vizianagaram, Prakasam, Nellore, Kurnool, Chittoor, Anantapuram, Kadapa and recommended criminal action against them.
In addition, the managing directors and highly-placed officers from two hospitals in Tirupati and Anantapuram were arrested.
The Kadapa advocates' association condemned the act of the hospitals.
