Aligarh (Uttar Pradesh): A woman who was repeatedly raped since the age of 11 by her own uncle filed a complaint 32 years later after the culprit again tried to molest her and threatened to spoil her married life.

The shocking incident has come to the fore in Bannadevi area in Aligarh where the victim, who is now 43, finally opened up about her being a victim of repeated sexual assault at the hands of her uncle. As a teenager, she had told her mother about her uncle's misdemeanour. The mother, however, asked her to remain silent.

The silence emboldened the culprit who continued assaulting her till the time the victim got married to an army soldier in 2011. The marriage calmed the situation and the victim finally felt she had received some semblance of peace in her life. Her husband took voluntary retirement and started his own business.

Soon the couple had two children as well. Everything was fine even as the victim refused to visit her maternal home whenever asked by her husband. In 2019, as she finally visited her maternal home, the culprit again tried to assault her. This time, however, the woman vehemently opposed his actions.

She was threatened by the culprit that he would spoil her married life and send her husband to jail in a fake case. Tired of it, the woman finally opened up and told her husband everything she had been through all these years. The husband understood her predicament and offered all the support she needed.

The victim's husband then put up a complaint on the Uttar Pradesh government's Integrated Grievance Redressal portal. Thereafter, the case was taken up by the Aligarh police for further action. Circle Officer Shiv Kumar said that the matter has come to their notice. "A case has been registered with the women's police station. Further legal action will follow soon."
