New Delhi: Soon after Tripura Congress Chief Piyush Kanti Biswas tendered his resignation alleging lack of support from the state unit leaders, the party's in charge of Tripura Dr Ajoy Kumar made efforts to convince him to stay back and resolve issues.
Following this, Biswas accepted the offer to continue in the post till Ajoy Kumar visits him to listen to his grievances.
While speaking to ETV Bharat, Tripura Congress in-charge Dr Ajoy Kumar said, "He has been kind enough to withhold his resignation till I come and meet him. There were some local issues that were troubling him for a long time. I understand his sentiments."
Kumar said that he will meet Biswas after the August 28. When asked if he is hopeful of convincing Biswas to stay back in the party, Ajoy Kumar replied, "The fact that we had a call and he agreed to stay back till I meet him and above all, if I'm able to resolve his issues then there is no reason, why he shouldn't."

Biswas had also released a statement regarding his resignation in which he stated that he was fully supported by the Congress leadership and that he would not join any other political party.
However, it was also being reported that he is in touch with Trinamool Congress (TMC) and may join the party soon. Recently, Sushmita Dev also quit the party to join TMC in Bengal. It is being said that soon she may get a key role in Tripura.
"Every party has a right to expand their political base. Like Mamata ji said 'khela hobe', we can also play and I'm sure we'll do one," Kumar said.
