AIADMK leaders pay tributes to J Jayalalithaa on her fourth death anniversary

Remembering J Jayalalithaa on her fourth death anniversary, AIADMK and leaders of various political parties paid rich tributes to her. The ruling party said that they will continue to work for the welfare of the state on the welfare schemes implemented by J Jayalalithaa.

Chennai: Leaders of the ruling party All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Azhagam (AIADMK) observed former Tamil Nadu chief minister J Jayalalithaa's fourth death anniversary and paid rich tributes to her at her memorial at Marina Beach.

Chief Minister Edappadi K Palaniswami, Deputy Chief Minister O Panneerselvam and other dignitaries of the party were present on the occasion to pay homage to the AIADMK's matriarch. The party leaders were clad in the black shirt and they placed a wreath at the decorated crypt and paid rich tributes to J Jayalalithaa.

In a series of tweets, Edappadi K Palaniswami said that he paid tributes to J Jayalalithaa and his party AIADMK will continue to work for the people of the state.

He wrote on Twitter, "We will continue to follow Jayalalithaa's path of excellence. She ensured peace and happiness in the state and we will continue to work on the welfare schemes implemented by her."

In another tweet, he wrote, "Today I paid tributes to Amma who followed the path of innovation and revolution. She was a firm believer in social justice and was committed to women empowerment and socio-economic justice."

O. Panneerselvam, who is also the AIADMK coordinator, read out the pledge, "If the family rule is established in the name of democracy, then Tamil Nadu cannot go on the path of development. Today, we take a pledge that we will protect the dignity of democracy and prevent the state from monopoly politics of one single family."

AIADMK members also promised to work together in the coming assembly elections to ensure a landslide victory for the party for the third time in a row.

On J Jayalalithaa's fourth death anniversary, the party leaders recalled her words that AIADMK will continue to serve the people of the Tamil Nadu after her for the next 100 years. They also observed a two-minute silence for their 'Amma'.

BJP leader CT Ravi in a tweet said, "Remembering "Puratchi Thalaivi", J Jayalalithaa on Her Punya Tithi. Fondly known as Amma, She worked for the progress & development of Tamil Nadu. Through her numerous welfare schemes, Amma transformed the lives of Tamil Makkal. She will forever remain in the hearts of people."

Jayalalithaa, who served as Tamil Nadu's CM six times, died on December 5, 2016, after being treated for various ailments at Apollo Hospital for 75 days.
