New Delhi: The Union Home Ministry (MHA) has put all the central security agencies on alert following reports that forces inimical to India's security might try to take advantage of the ongoing farmers' agitation to create chaos ahead of the Republic Day function.
The alert was sounded following intelligence inputs that anti-India elements especially Pakistan backed ISI and Khalistani militants might try to create chaos.
"We have inputs that anti-social elements might try to take advantage of the prevailing situation to create anarchy," said a senior Home Ministry official on Tuesday.
The official said that all the security agencies have been put on maximum alert.
In fact, many leaders of the ruling BJP have claimed that anti-India elements have already joined the farmers' agitation. The claim made by BJP, however, ruled out by the opposition leaders.
Talking to ETV Bharat, CPI general secretary D Raja said that it's a false claim being made by the central government.
"It's purely a farmers agitation. Just to dilute the issue and overcome the present scenario, the central government representatives are making such claims," said Raja.
When contacted, Prakash Singh, a senior security expert and former Chief of the Border Security Force (BSF) however said that certain elements (anti-social) always try to join such agitation.
"We saw in several earlier instances when there is a popular agitation on a certain issue, a few elements who are dissatisfied, always try to take advantage of the situation," said Singh. Such elements always try to exploit the anti-government sentiments. "They always want to fan the flame," said Singh.

On an earlier occasion, anti-Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA) agitation also came to the limelight after it got the alleged support of several anti-establishment organisations including Popular Front of India (PFI).
"Considering the kind of support the farmers' agitation is getting...some Khalistani organisations joining the agitation can't be ruled out, " said Singh.
It may be mentioned here that the ongoing farmers' agitation against three farms laws being implemented by the government of India has already got the support of a few countries including Canada.
"This is a high time that Prime Minister should intervene to douse the situation," suggested Singh.
