Bhagwant Mann to take oath on March 16, invites Delhi CM

Bhagwant Mann met Arvind Kejriwal in Delhi after a landslide win in the Punjab Assembly polls by winning 92 seats to form its government in the state.

Sangrur (Punjab): Aam Aadmi Party's (AAP) Punjab Chief Ministerial face Bhagwant Mann on Friday met party's national convener and Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal and Delhi Deputy CM Manish Sisodia at CM's residence in New Delhi. It was the first meet after the party's sweeping victory in Punjab on Thursday. Bhagwant Mann will take oath on March 16 and has invited Delhi CM for the ceremony.

Mann along with Arvind Kejriwal will hold a massive roadshow in Amritsar on March 13. Before his meet with CM, Mann spoke to the media, stating that he would meet Kejriwal to congratulate him on the party's victory in the Punjab elections. AAP leader Raghav Chadha was also present in the meeting.

"The people defeated arrogant persons and made the common people victorious," added Mann. AAP swept 92 out of 117 assembly seats in Punjab. Bhagwant Mann won from the Dhuri assembly seat with a margin of 58,206 votes after which he announced during an address to party workers that the oath-taking ceremony will be conducted at the ancestral village of legendary Bhagat Singh in Nawanshahr district.

Meanwhile, the Punjab chief minister-designate also asked the newly elected AAP MLAs to spend most of their time in villages and cities to resolve issues of public. "Work there where we sought votes. The government will run from villages, wards, mohallas. Go and meet people, have tea with them. Take officers along and resolve their issues," Mann said in a brief address during a meeting of the AAP's legislature party.

The ruling party in the state was satisfied itself with 18 seats while Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) secured only two seats. Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) secured three seats. Several big names- sitting CM Charanjit Singh Channi, Parkash Singh Badal, Sukhbir Singh Badal, Amarinder Singh, and Navjot Singh Sidhu- failed to save their seats.
