Srinagar: Amid allegations of vendetta by political parties in the Kashmir Valley over naming their leaders as beneficiaries in the Roshni land scheme, the government today said that action against all beneficiaries will be taken without any bias.

"Action against all the beneficiaries from Roshni scheme will be taken fairly, without any bias. The investigations are taking place against all those who have benefitted from it and did not link it with Jammu and Kashmir. Every penny will be taken back from those who have looted the people of Jammu and Kashmir," said BJP national spokesman Syed Shahnawaz Hussain in a press conference in Srinagar today.

He alleged that National Conference president Farooq Abdullah should break his silence for being a beneficiary in the Roshni scheme. He asked why Farooq Abdullah is silent on the issue." He should say that he has not taken any land. Their silence is the acknowledgement. Even their party office is also Roshni Act beneficiary," he said.

Syed Shahnawaz Hussain is camping in Kashmir from over a week in connection with the campaign for District Development Council elections slated on November 28 to December 19 in eight phases. Jammu and Kashmir administration has released a list of beneficiaries of Roshni scheme under which big chunk of government Nazool land have been transferred to the influential people in Jammu and Kashmir.

However, the High Court has scrapped the Roshni Act and declared all the transfers illegal. Political parties in Kashmir valley have accused the BJP of political vendetta by labelling them and their leaders as beneficiaries. NC has denied that its leaders are among the beneficiaries of the scheme.

The BJP leader said that the party is contesting the DDC polls envisioning development and corruption-free Jammu and Kashmir. "But the Gupkar gang is silent on the issue of development. They are not talking about development or dynasty politics or corruption," he said. Answering the query on the arrest of People's Democratic Party leader Waheed Para, he said that investigation agencies do not get deterred in discharging their duties in the wake of elections.

"Elections or not, the fight against corruption will go on and elections have no connection with that. If they (PDP) think it should not be done at the time of elections, then they should submit a petition," he said. PDP youth president Waheed Parra was on Wednesday arrested by National Investigation Agency in connection with the suspended Devender Singh- Naveed Babu case.
