In the police complaint lodged in this regard, the retired teacher said that he received a call from an unknown caller who impersonating Sub Inspector Vinoy Kumar Choubey from the Mumbai Cyber Crime telling him that a transaction of Rs 20 lakh had been done for money laundering using his credentials. The fraudster later made the victim transfer whopping Rs 2.27 crore in lieu of preventing his arrest in the case.
