Bijnor (Uttar Pradesh): A video of a crocodile strolling on a street of Uttar Pradesh's Bijnor district has gone viral on social media.
In the video clip, the crocodile is seen crawling on a lane without hurting anyone while a few curious passersby were found following it. A dog is seen going near the reptile to take a closer look and then a man approaches it. He kicks the crocodile without any provocation following which, it increases its pace and is seen crawling away faster to escape.
The incident, which took place in the Nangal area of Bijnor, caused a commotion in the area. It is suspected that the crocodile had strayed into the village from the nearby forest area. Seeing it many people rushed inside their houses in fear and witnessed the scene from their windows while a few gathered at the street.
The villagers informed the forest department and soon a team reached the spot. The crocodile was rescued by the forest team and released in the forest. Some villagers had captured the scene on their mobiles and one such video was uploaded on social media.
Villagers said they spotted a huge crocodile roaming on the street at around 6 am. A crowd had gathered on the spot to witness the rare scene while many panic-stricken residents ran home, they said.
Hours later a team from the forest department reached the spot. Forest department personnel captured the crocodile and took it away with them, they said.
