Narayanpur: Two personnel from the District Reserve Guard (DRG) were injured in an improvised explosive device (IED) blast triggered by Naxalites in Chhattisgarh's Narayanpur district on Friday morning, police said.

The incident occurred around 8.30 am near Kachchapal village, under the Kohkameta police station limits, when a joint team of the DRG and Border Security Force (BSF) was conducting a search operation. A police official informed, "The operation was launched from the Kachchapal police camp. As the team was condoning off a forested area near Kachchapal, Naxalites detonated the IED, injuring two DRG constables, Janak Patel and Ghasiram Manjhi."

The injured personnel were immediately rushed to the Narayanpur district hospital, where their condition was said to be stable. "The soldiers were given first aid at Narayanpur and are being referred to Raipur for better treatment," the police official added.

Narayanpur SP Prabhat Kumar confirmed that the incident occurred near a newly established camp in Kachchapal. "On December 18, a new camp was opened in the Kachchapal area. The DRG jawans were constructing a road to improve access to the camp when Naxalites triggered the IED blast. Two jawans were injured in the attack," he said.

One of the injured jawans sustained serious injuries to his leg, while the other's condition remained stable. "Retaliatory action is being taken against the Naxalites involved," SP Kumar stated.

This attack came a day after security forces foiled a major Naxalite conspiracy in Bijapur district. On Thursday, security forces successfully defused a landmine planted by Maoists in Mudvendi.
