Hyderabad: Indian wrestler Vinesh Phogat defeated Yusneylys Guzman in the semi-final wrestling tournament at the Paris Olympics 2024 on Tuesday. Several Bollywood celebrities took to social media to celebrate the win as Phogat became the first Indian woman to reach the finals of the 50 kg freestyle wrestling category at the Olympics, securing her silver medal. Actors including Rajkummar Rao and his wife Patralekha, Taapsee Pannu, Riteish Deshmukh and others have showered the wrestler with love on social media.
Rajkummar Rao posted a photo of Phogat from the recent Olympic wrestling competition on Instagram. A thrilled Rao referred to her as the "pride of our nation". The Stree 2 star wished the wrestling champion writing: "And we are in the finals. It was such a joy watching you playing live. You are the pride of our nation @vineshphogat. Good luck for the finals. Our prayers are with you." Along with him, his actor-wife Patralekha showered praises on her Instagram Story. She referred to it as a "moment for the country". The caption of the post read: "What a game...champion. Vinesh Phogat wins silver. What a moment for a country #Phoenix."
Taapsee Pannu celebrated Vinesh's Olympic victory with a string of Instagram Stories. In her lengthy post, she confessed to being a "fan for life". "This woman is going to be recalled as a benchmark in a lot of ways for decades to come! What a woman! What a crazy year she has had and what courage she has shown. Your fan for life," read one of her social media posts.

Actor Riteish Deshmukh posted a photo of the wrestler's winning moment on X (previously Twitter). In the photograph, Phogat is seen crying as she lies on the ground after defeating the Cuban player in the semi-finals. Riteish wrote: "That’s what a champion looks like after beating the World No 1 & Defending Olympic Gold Medal holder #VineshPhogat." After the significant Olympic victory, actor Randeep Hooda also offered his congratulations. Randeep posted a photo of Phogat from the match on X. He posted the hashtag #VineshPhogat along with emojis of a clapping hand and a crossed finger.
Bollywood couple Soha Ali Khan and Kunal Kemmu watched the wrestling championship semi-finals on TV. The couple sent their best wishes to Vinesh Phogat with a photo of them watching the match on TV. Taking to Instagram, Kunal wrote: "What a champ ufff. so proud" along with a fire emoji. Recognising the wrestler's significant victory, Soha was equally pleased. She penned a note for the Indian wrestler, which read: "First Indian woman to reach an Olympic wrestling final. So proud!"
