Hyderabad: Following Vinesh Phogat's remarkable victory at the Paris Olympics 2024, Bollywood has witnessed a clash of opinions between two prominent actors, Kangana Ranaut and Swara Bhasker. The divergent views highlight the plight of Phogat's journey to Olympic glory. Indian wrestler Vinesh Phogat scripted history with her unforgettable win, securing her place in the finals.
However, the celebrations surrounding Phogat's win have been accompanied by contrasting views from Bollywood figures. Kangana Ranaut, known for her outspoken nature, expressed her views on social media, crediting Phogat's triumph to Prime Minister Narendra Modi's leadership.
The Queen actor referenced Vinesh Phogat's participation in protests and controversially quoted slogans allegedly raised by her, which critiqued Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Despite this, Ranaut emphasized that Phogat was allowed to represent India with extensive support in training. Ranaut hailed this as a testament to democracy, crediting PM Modi's governance for the athlete's success.
Taking to Instagram, Ranaut shared a picture of Phogat with the caption: "Fingers crossed for India's first Gold Medal... Vinesh Phogat at one point took part in protests where she raised the slogans of "Modi teri Kabr khudegi" Yet she was given the opportunity to represent the nation and best of the training, coaches and facilities. Beauty of democracy and a great leader."

On the other hand, Swara Bhasker took to X (formerly known as Twitter) to laud Phogat's achievement, emphasising the personal sacrifices and struggles the wrestler endured on her path to success. Bhasker's X post read: "Don’t let ‘em steal your credit @Phogat_Vinesh … the sweat, blood and tears were yours then and now! #GoForGold We are already so proud of you!" Bhasker hinted at the inefficient central government, which didn't come to the rescue of the protesting wrestlers as they alleged misconduct at the hands of Wrestling Federation of India (WFI) chief Bris Bhushan Sharan Singh.
