Patna: A beggar from Bihar's Patna became a crorepati with the money he begged. He bought land in many places in the city. His two children are studying in a renowned private school. However, he continues his begging while staying at home. Beggar Pappu spoke to ETV Bharat and shared his journey of how he became a rich person by begging.
"I was not interested in studies since childhood. My family members used to beat me for not studying properly. I got angry and went to Mumbai. I stayed there for many days. Once I injured my hand while traveling in a train. I was admitted to a hospital. All the money I had was spent. So, I had to go to the railway station to board a train for Patna. But, people saw me standing at the railway station and started giving money assuming me a beggar. Then I didn't understand. Within two hours I got Rs 3,400. The next day, I went to the same place and sat. I got it again. It became a habit. After that, I came back to Patna. I started begging in the Hanuman temple as well as the railway station premises."
Pappu said that he has accounts in Punjab National Bank, State Bank of India and Bank of Baroda. He stated that his wife has accounts in ICCI and Cooperative Bank. He said that apart from the money, there is land in many places in the city and a house where the whole family lives. He claimed that he had bought all this with the money he had begged.
Pappu said, "My two children are studying in a private school in Patna. Though I didn't study, I enrolled them in private schools to ensure that they reach good positions in life. I will train my children as officers with the begged money. I earn more than Rs 400 a day. I deposit the monthly earnings in a bank account."
His friend Vishal, another beggar, said that Pappu became a millionaire by begging in Patna. Vishal said, "We also begged and became millionaires. But, we wasted all the money. Beggars respect Pappu and everyone calls him 'Crorepati Pappu'. He is our leader. The government is taking all measures to stop begging. But, Pappu became a millionaire only by begging," said Vishal.
