Air Mauritius Flight MK 749 Delayed for over 5 Hours, Trapped Passengers Face Breathing Problems

Passengers on Air Mauritius flight MK 749 from Mumbai to Mauritius are experiencing a concerning situation.

Mumbai: Several passengers faced breathing problems after being held up in an Air Mauritius flight for five hours at Mumbai airport on Saturday as the aircraft's air-conditioner was not functioning. The flight was finally cancelled.

The Air Mauritius flight MK749 from Mumbai to Mauritius was scheduled to depart at 4.30 am and the boarding started at 3.45 am. However, the engine developed a snag resulting which, the plane could not depart. Around 200 passengers on board remained stuck for nearly five hours.

According to a flyer, a 78-year-old passenger along with few others including children started complaining of respiratory problem as the air-conditioning system was not working. The elderly passenger was made to lie down at the back of the plane. The passengers were not allowed to disembark the plane and remained locked inside despite facing problems, the flyer complained.

Considering the seriousness of the incident, the airline later decided to cancel the flight. It was learnt that necessary arrangements are being made for the passengers at the airport.

The incident has left the passengers fuming. They said that the fight cancellation was announced after they were stuck for five hours with many facing breathing problems.

According to sources, engineers were called in to fix the snag but despite repeated attempts, the problem could not be rectified. Eventually, the flight was cancelled at around 10 am.
