Woman projected on PM Awas Yojana advertisement lives in a rented house in Kolkata

A few days back an advertisement appeared on the front page of some newspapers in which, a woman was shown with a smiling face, who says that she got a house under PM Awas Yojana. The advertisement also claims that through PM Awas Yojana, 24 families have been benefited. But the woman, named Laxmi Devi who was projected in the advertisement had no clue about all these. She is yet to get a house under the central government scheme and still lives in a rented house at Mangalana Lane of 71 Ward under Kolkata Municipal Corporation. "The woman in the photo is me but I don’t have any knowledge about it. I didn't get a house under this scheme and I live in a rented house," she stated. "I don’t know who took my photo and when. No one approached me and asked for my permission to be photographed," she added.
