WATCH: School in Karnataka has its 'own' vegetable garden
Suribailu Government School at Kulnadu village in Bantwal taluk in Dakshina Kannada district is a school with a difference. When almost all educational institutions are pressuring their students to focus on studies, this school emphasises equally on education and farming activities. The school has developed its own vegetable garden. The garden is grown and maintained by the school children along with teachers. School Development Committee Chairman S.M. Aboobacker said that there are already over 25 different vegetables being grown and the plantation was built by committee members, faculty and locals. The garden is spread over a one-and-half acre of land. A variety of vegetable seeds were sown in June which includes snake bean, pineapple, tomato, Ladies finger, pumpkin, paprika, cucumber and many others.
