IAF lands AN-32 at strategically vital Chinyalisaur airstrip
Uttarkashi: Indian Air Force multipurpose aircraft AN-32 made a successful landing at Chinyalisaur airstrip in Uttarakhand's Uttarkashi district. According to the sources, the Air Force is in the process of making Chinyalisaur airstrip an airbase. Inspections had also been conducted on Tuesday by IAF officials. The officials met with the local administrative officials and inspected the terminal of the Chinyalisaur airstrip, the ATC tower along with the runway. Last year, the Air Force conducted a trial operation of landing and takeoff of aircraft named Gaganashakti at Chinyalisaur airstrip. From the strategic point of view of the India-China international border, the activities of the Air Force on Chinyalisaur airstrip have been witnessing a boom from the last two years. Amid increasing tension on the Indo-China border in Ladakh, the Air Force is repairing the airstrips adjacent to the border, so that the enemy can be responded to in case of any kind of war. Chinyalisaur airstrip is strategically important and crucial as Chinyalisaur lies 125 kilometres from the Indo-China border.
