Odisha tribal youth invents petrol ATM

Keonjhar (Odisha): Every body knows that when you insert your card in an ATM machine, currency notes come out of it. However, possibly no one has ever heard about the existence of an ATM petrol machine. But Jitendra Hembrum, a tribal youth of Brahmanipal under Harichandranpur block of Odisha's Keonjhar district has invented such a machine which does not require a person to handle it. This unique invention by the tribal youth has given him a new identity while providing a lot of advantages to the people of the locality. According to sources, there was no petrol pump within a radius of 20 kilometres and the only available facility was the petrol pump located at Duburi in Jajpur district. Keeping this in view, Jitendra had imagined about this ATM petrol machine. Earlier because of his acute poverty he was forced to discontinue his studies after Class Ten and again he had to face a lot of difficulties while making this ATM machine. Despite paucity of finance, he was able to arrange required spare parts and make the ATM machine within a period of six to seven months which was commissioned about a year back. In the beginning one had to insert cash in the machine to get petrol, but now he had provided the facility of digital payment in the machine. Petrol is available in the denomination of Rupees Fifty and Rs 100 from this machine which is providing service for twenty four hours.
