Massive fire breaks out at petrol pump near Raj Bhavan in Bhubaneswar
As many as six people were injured while two are grievously injured in a major fire that broke out with a loud explosion at a petrol station near Raj Bhavan in Odisha's Bhubaneswar on Wednesday afternoon. According to sources, the incident took place at around 1 pm when the fire broke out inside a gas chamber. The intensity of the explosion was so high that it felt like an earthquake. The explosion also ripped a portion of the petrol pump's roof and even destroyed a few vehicles parked there, sources said. On being informed about the mishap, Fire personnel rushed to the spot and rescued the injured persons. Two critically injured victims have been admitted to the SCB Medical College and Hospital in Cuttack while others are undergoing treatment at the Capital Hospital here. Fire personnel managed to douse the flames while police have cordoned off the area and advised denizens to stay away from the spot of the mishap. Reportedly, Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik announced free medical treatment for the victims and wished their speedy recovery. Meanwhile, panic gripped among locals and passersby at the Raj Bhavan area as the fire broke out all of a sudden.
