Jumbo dies in mud while drinking water in Nilgiri forest

In what could make the animal lovers unhappy, a male elephant died after getting stuck in the mud while drinking water at Nilgiri forest in Tamil Nadu's Gudalur district on Friday. The elephant had reportedly gone to a pond to drink water. However, it got stuck in the mud and subsequently died on the spot. On being informed about the death of pachyderm, a team of forest officials rushed to the spot and conducted an autopsy to ascertain the cause behind the death of the animal. While the exact reasons behind the pachyderm's death remain undetermined.
