Several parts of Rajasthan suffered flood-like situations following incessant rains since Sunday night. Most of the areas faced water-logging after heavy rains battered the Sawai Madhopur district on Monday. Due to heavy rainfall, rivers and streams are in spate at many places in the district. Even after the local administration appealed to people to stay home safe, two people were washed away by floodwaters while crossing a road near the Sherpur-Khilchipur area. The strong current of water at Latiya Nala washed them away in front of hundreds of onlookers. Luckily they were rescued by a few passers-by when the water flow subsided later. The two men were safely dragged out of the water and were rushed to a local hospital for treatment. According to reports, the overflowing water from manholes and drains entered many houses and several vehicles have submerged into knee-deep floodwater in the area. Torrential rain has also brought vehicle traffic to a standstill on the Tonk-Chirgaon National Highway 552 near Ranthambore sanctuary.
