Authorities cremate man after family refuses over fear of coronavirus

Haveri (Karnataka): Amid the scare over Coronavirus, the family of a 50-year-old Hucchappa Goni who died of kidney failure refused to perform his last rites even after his coronavirus test report came negative. When the Panchayat Development Officer, Village president and health department personnel came to know about this, they wore personal protective equipment and performed his cremation. Some family members and villagers gathered at the spot but watched the last rites from a distance.
