Ex parliamentarian Jayashree Goswami slams AGP for snubbing Prafulla Mahanta

Guwahati: Former two-time Assam Chief Minister Prafulla Kumar Mahanta was deprived of a ticket by the Asom Gana Parishad (AGP), a party to which Mahanta was the founder president. As part of the seat-sharing arrangements between the AGP and BJP, the regional party had given the Bahrampur seat to BJP. Mahanta, one of the most important signatories of the historical Assam Accord, had been winning the Bahrampur seat since 1991. Although Mahanta refrained from making any comments over the recent political development in the state, his wife and former parliamentarian Jayshree Goswami Mahanta slammed the regional political party for their decision to surrender the Bahrampur seat to the saffron party.
