Watch Video: As flood water recedes, crocodiles have a field day in Maharashtra's Sangli
As the floodwaters of Krishna recedes, the crocodile scare has come to haunt the local people of Sangli in Maharashtra. The reptiles used to be in remote river banks are seen everywhere now including in urban areas. Crocodiles are found in the Krishna river basin of Sangli starting from Audumbar's Doha to Haripur. Though they have been found in the Krishna basin since the British era, their number should have increased of late, the local people say. There may be more than 50 crocodiles on the river banks as of now. During the rescue works, a huge crocodile was seen basking in the sun on a flooded house's rooftop.
