International Biodiversity Day: Sustainable solutions in nature

The United Nations International Day of Biological Diversity on May 22 aims to highlight the problem of diminishing biodiversity and promote more sustainable solutions. Many Kenyan farmers and environmentalists already know the benefits of finding solutions in nature. From the tallest animals on earth to delicate butterflies, Kenya has an array of wildlife, supported by a rich ecosystem. But like elsewhere, biodiversity is under threat from humans. This year's theme of the United Nations International Day of Biological Diversity is 'Our solutions are in nature'.
