28 percent of Indian adults consume tobacco products: Survey
As per a 2016-17 report released by the Global Adult Tobacco Survey, 28.6 percent of all adults in India consume tobacco products. The report released recently by the Union Health Ministry states that the northeastern state of Mizoram tops the list of average tobacco smokers with 34.4 percent of the population smoking tobacco against a national average of 10.7 percent. Maharashtra, however, records the lowest smoking average at 3.8 percent.
